Wikipedia - PFC Botev Plovdiv II
Botev Plovdiv II (Bulgarian: Ботев Пловдив II) or Botev 2 is a Bulgarian professional football team based in Plovdiv. Founded in 2021, it is the reserve team of Botev Plovdiv, and currently plays in Third League, the third level of Bulgarian football.
Obliged to play one level below their main side, Botev II is ineligible for promotion to First League and also can not compete in the Bulgarian Cup.
History
2021–:Foundation
Since 2015, the Bulgarian Football Union allowed Bulgarian teams to have reserve sides in the lower regional divisions. In the beginning of 2021 Botev Plovdiv announced their intentions to create a reserve team in Second league. In May 2021, the team had doubts about starting the team, but eventually the team was officially announced on 4 June. On 7 June, Daniel Cerejido announced Stefan Stoyanov as the manager of the team, with Botev U19 team, joining the reserve team.
Botev II har en lång och rik historia, och har fostrat ett antal spelare som har gått vidare till att spela för Botev Plovdivs huvudlag och olika andra bulgariska och internationella klubbar. Några av de mest kända spelarna som har spelat för Botev II inkluderar Dimitar Berbatov, Hristo Stoichkov och Ilian Stankov.
Lagets hemmaarena är Hristo Botev Stadium, som ligger i centrum av Plovdiv. Arenan har en kapacitet på 18 000 åskådare och är också hemmaarena för Botev Plovdivs huvudlag.
Botev II:s nuvarande huvudtränare är Nikolai Kirov, som utsågs till tjänsten i juli 2022. Kirov har en lång karriär inom bulgarisk fotboll, efter att ha tränat flera klubbar, inklusive Botev Plovdivs huvudlag.
Botev II har en hängiven fanskara som kallas "Canaries", som stöder laget på både hemma- och bortamatcher. Laget har en stark rivalitet med lokala konkurrenten Lokomotiv Plovdiv II.
