S.F.K. Pierikos (Greek: Σ.Φ.Κ. Πιερικός) is a Greek football club based in Katerini, Greece, part of the major multi-sport club of the same name. Their name was inspired from the State's name of Pieria. The club recently competed in the Super League 2 2021–22, at the Northern Group and got relegated to Gamma Ethniki.
History
History
In 1963, Pierikos played for the first time in the First National Division where he stayed for 9 whole years, while in the same year reached the final of the Greek Cup facing Olympiakos. Club's performances were often impressive, as it consistently finished in the top 10 of scoreboard of the league. In 1972 was demoted but returned soon. In 1975 the team got promoted to the First Division again and remained for 3 years. The club was then demoted again. Pierikos was promoted three more times to the First National, but never managed to establish itself again in the 1st Division. The biggest distinction of the club was to finish 3 times in the 5th place of the championship, but also the Cup final against Olympiakos in 1963 where it was defeated 3–0.
Klubbens färger är grönt och vitt och deras hemmaplan är Municipal Stadium of Katerini, som har en kapacitet på 4 916 åskådare. Pierikos FC har vunnit Beta Ethniki en gång, 1982–83, och de har också deltagit i Alpha Ethniki, den grekiska toppdivisionen, vid två tillfällen, 1983–84 och 1984–85.
Över tid har Pierikos FC fostrat många framgångsrika spelare, inklusive Kostas Kiassos, Dimitrios Salpingidis och Stelios Venetidis. Klubben har också ett starkt ungdomssystem och har producerat flera unga spelare som har gått vidare till att spela på högre nivåer.
Pierikos FC är ett av de mest framgångsrika fotbollslagen i regionen Central Makedonien och de har en lojal fanskara som kallas "Green and Whites". Klubben har också en stark gemenskapsanda och deltar aktivt i sociala och välgörenhetsinitiativ.
